iPhone Buzz: Nightline tours Apple facility, Safari user sues Google, Facebook makes iOS integration easier
Thursday, February 23rd, 2012Last night ABC’s news program Nightline aired its tour of the Foxconn facilities for the iPad and iPhone are built. Apparently, the competition for positions at the factory is fierce and iPhone takes 141 construction steps.

One Safari user has filed suit against Google over alleged privacy violations. The suit stems from recent report that Google was bypassing Safari privacy settings and tracking users.

Google's Senior Communications VP Rachel Whetstone claimed Microsoft was being dishonest in making claims of suspicious browser cookie circumventions in Internet Explorer 9 and elsewhere. The executive argued that Microsoft had effectively ignored the issue since 2002, when it had implemented the P3P approach of requiring a cookie state its intent.

The search giant contends that the Journal's story "mischaracterizes what happened and why."

Saturday, February 18th, 2012A new report by the Wall Street Journal has leveled a pretty heavy accusation at Google, that they’ve been intentionally sidestepping Apple’s privacy measure in Safari to install cookies without user permission. Both on the desktop and iOS versions of the application, Safari requires permissions to run cookies, unlike most other browsers. The workaround used by Google (and a number of other companies) gets around this by using a quirk in Safari.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Google has been bypassing privacy settings in Safari intended to block websites from tracking user activity across the Internet. Stanford researcher Jonathan Mayer discovered that Google had been implementing code that bypasses Safari's user-determined privacy settings, and the Journal's own researcher independently confirmed Mayer's findings. This code affected both Safari on the Mac and its mobile counterpart on iOS devices

Social media power users will be pleased to hear that the official Google+ iOS app has been updated to allow photos and videos to be instantly uploaded onto the service. Now, instead of manually going through the entire Camera Roll, picking out the images you want uploaded and waiting for them to appear, users can instead opt to have everything instantly uploaded and shared with their circles.
