The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW): Shazam updates for iOS 4.0, adds subscription model for Encore features

Back in late June/early July, I reviewed an app called Wi-Fi Sync for jailbroken iPhones. You can find my revised version of the review here. Originally this seemed like a pretty neat app. It’s a bit pricey for what it does, but it did it well.
While Steve Jobs and Apple.com (the main US version of the site) say iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod touch is coming sometime “next week”, Apple.com/uk is cheeky enough to put a date on it — Monday, September 8.
Download the iOS 4.1 Software Update. Available on 8 September.
Chuck Gnome was chosen as our Daily App here on the site about a month ago, and now Movable Sprites has offered us a few copies to give away to you readers. Since we last posted about it, the game has updated to version 1.1 and added in a new episode, a new mini game, new music, and lots more. Plus, the price was lowered to 99 cents (and there's still a lite version available for you to check out). The Tap Tap Revenge games topped the App Store charts for years, bringing a simplified version of Guitar Hero—in a way—to the iPhone before the real thing came along. But the new app Lyric Legend takes the Tap Tap favorite to another level by challenging players to think a bit more critically by tapping along to lyrics instead of beats.

Yesterday I loaded up the newest version of PingChat!, messaged a friend (I have one of those now!), and then noticed an ad running along the bottom of the screen. I found this strange, since I distinctly remember PingChat! being an ad-free experience when I downloaded a few months ago.
